What job do you do?

I am a writer, I have been writing for many years, I started making money as a writer when I was still in college. I first wrote for newspaper and later move to online writing.

I work at a fast food restaurant, but one aspiration I have is to tutor math, science, and computer programming.

I've been working at a bank, I work in payment processing. So when you go to pay off your credit card bill or mortgage, I'm the guy who processes your checks into a system so that data entry can key out the information and it gets processed lol.

I can actually type very fast, but I haven't tried to break into the profession of writing.

How fast can you type? Just curious is all! I'm not the best writer myself so I don't think I could write a story. I'm decent enough to get my point across in posts on forums though lol.

I'm a glorified cashier. A Front-End Supervisor. (I know, that tells you nothing.) It's my job to ensure that the customers are being charged accurately for the items they are purchased. To assist the cashiers in processing orders. To ensure the work environment is clean and items are stocked, available for customers to grab off the shelf.

I do a lot of basic arithmetic every day. Lots of counting, adding, and occasionally multiplication that utilizes those 36-times-tables we all learned in school. I also do a lot of running around in flight/fight mode, like a headless chicken. Almost forgot, I also do a lot of heavy lifting of 50-pound bags of rice, potatoes, sugar, flour, bushels of peppers and other vegetables, and occasionally I have to weigh random boxes of meat products up to 100 pounds.

Someday, I'd love to find a quiet desk job. Reviewing clerical papers from here to the moon would be fine too.

I don't know how fast I can type, but it's very fast. What's a good free tool to find out the speed?

I'm an HVAC Technician. I repair air conditioners, heat pumps, and furnaces. It is pretty fun at times because it can be just like solving a puzzle. Other times not so much because 100F day on the roof is like 110-115F.

There's places, (I think typing.com) that offer this service, but it's actually quite simple. My preferred writing app is Obsidian. it's free and packed with power. Anyway, it features a built-in word counter.

Set your phone timer for one minute. Open Obsidian, start your timer and type. It's best to type something that you can read from, because that's more of an accurate speed test. I know that I can type much faster with thoughts from my brain than reading and typing what I see. Anyway, when your phone beeps, stop typing, even if you're in the middle of a word. At the bottom of the screen, there will be a word count displayed. There's your answer!
